Molotov

Zapatista Coffee in Israel

Molotov: Taste of Freedom

Molotov Cooperative appeared in 2017 in Saint Petersburg, the Russian city with prominent revolutionary traditions.

The cooperative roasts coffee grains grown by Zapatistas, libertarian revolutionaries from the South of Mexico. Zapatistas have practiced autonomy since 1994.

Because of the rise of autocracy, repressions and the war against Ukraine, some members of Molotov were forced to leave Russia and now live in Israel, where they continue coffee distribution.

Selling coffee helps Zapatistas to finance schools and hospitals, infrastructure for indigenous people of México and their autonomous self-government.

Molotov is a part of a worldwide network of cooperatives that keep working with Zapatistas since 2003.

Molotov sells coffee beans from Zapatista cooperative Yachil Xojobal Chulchan, whose 600 members grow organic arabica in the highlands of Chiapas.
